Hello! My name is Dezai Gill-Temple. I started fishing at the age of 8 on the local flows of the Fraser River, Vedder River and Chehalis. The first fisheries I was introduced to by my father was the Fraser River sockeye run and Vedder River white spring chinook fishery.
However, it was in my early 20s when I truly fell in love with fishing. It was the ability to disconnect from the busy, hectic day-to-day life, and get a line in the water with my son or a few close friends.
Fishing is my Therapy
When you’re outdoors, on a body of water fishing, nothing else matters at that moment; you’ve got the ability to live completely in the moment. Just be present. This can be a hard challenge, as there are so many distractions in our daily lives.
Fishing has been a form of therapy for me; I’m the happiest when I’m on the water. The challenge of trying to catch a fish keeps the mind sharp and is truly what makes this sport fascinating. Creating life long memories with friends and family on the water is priceless. Now after 22 years of fishing experience, I’ve had the opportunity to target multiple species, all across beautiful British Columbia, Canada.
The primary species I target are Steelhead, Rainbow trout, Cutthroat trout, Kokanee, Bass and, of course, our beloved salmon species: Pink, Chum, Chinook, Sockeye and Coho. And because of this wide range of species, fishing is possible all year round, depending on openings!
